When our friends ask us what one of the highlights of our 2019 Europe trip was, we always mention this Parisian restaurant where we had the best foie gras ever! The best. With 1500+ reviews and a 4.7/5 star rating, Le Comptoir de la Gastronomie specializes in foie gras flavoured dishes. We had the luxury to pig out here on a gloomy day last week.
entrée
This dish was the duck foie gras terrine, chutney and toast for €18. The foie gras was delicious, creamy, light and not that overwhelming in the bite. The chutney had a beautifully sweet profile, enhancing the creaminess of the foie gras.
The toast was fresh, with that nice soft denseness. The crust was crunchy, pairing well with the foie gras.
Main Course
This fat, juicy piece was the pan-seared foie gras with gingerbread and mixed salad for €20.
To be honest, it was slightly too fattening for us to finish this piece of stuffed duck liver because it was so rich and overwhelming. The salad helped cut through the bite but when eating this much lipid fat, the lungs start to feel compress and breathing gets heavy. That’s what happened to us 😅.
It was very savoury and delicious, don’t get us wrong there, especially with the unique gingerbread but by the end of this dish, we were glad we only got one to share.

For €21 we got this beautiful foie gras wrapped in the restaurants own soft, freshly made pasta, served in a delectable and succulent truffle sauce. There was a great balance in texture and flavours!
It was honestly so good, we ordered a second serving the moment we both had our first taste. Highly recommend this dish to anyone travelling to Paris in the future 🤤.

We were all foie gras out by the end of this meal, and it was a good thing we were because one of us came home with a medically diagnosed fattier liver LOL. Oops. But we do not regret any culinary decision made on this trip and we would travel back in time and place to eat at this restaurant again.
