The first highlight of our Japan trip last month was our day trip to visit the famous Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima Island.
00: Caught a JR train from Shin-Osaka station
00: Arrived at Hiroshima Station
30: Arrived at Miyajimaguchi Station
45: Caught the ferry to Miyajima Island

This was the view from the ferry. I was super excited at how picture perfect this place was already starting to look.
15: We went to Omotesando street where we had fresh oysters and momiji manjusβ π

00: Photo moments with Itsukushima shrine. There were a lot of tourists so make sure to stay patient and enjoy the views. The tide was high at this point so we continued to explore the island.
00: Walked through Momiji Dani park
00: Lunch at the oyster shop
00: Attempted hike to the top of Mt. Misen. We got to the rope car entrance and it was closed due to the weather so we opted to walk back down. Along the way, we met a lot of deer.

00: We caught the ferry back to the station, caught the train to Hiroshima station and then made the critical decision: Hiroshima castle or Hiroshima Memorial museum because both were going to close at 5pm.
00: We chose the Hiroshima Memorial Museum and cried through it. It was very tragic and sad to see the devastation first hand. Afterwards we enjoyed a nice walk along the Peace Memorial where there was a 1000 beautiful cranes displayed.

00: Oyster okonomiyaki for dinner. This was so good π. Oysters are the speciality of Hiroshima so if you love seafood, this is the city to visit.
We headed back to Osaka at 19:30 and arrived home at 21:45. Definitely one of our best days in Japan.
