Sensoji Temple

Sensō-Ji is a temple located in Asakusa and is one of the most popular tourist spots in Tokyo. It was built in 645 AD and is one of Japan’s oldest temples too. We’ve visited a few times and these are snapshots from last week. There were so many people, thanks to the cherry blossom season.
This is probably one of the most photographed lanterns in the world 🏮😂
Japanese people believe incense burning purifies the surrounding area. It was nice to observe this tradition of Japanese culture and hilarious to watch tourist attempt to blend in, like this lady here 😂
This street in front of the temple is Nakamise Shopping street, known for its souvenirs and food stalls. We enjoyed walking along this busy street, looking at kimonos, fans, swords, mochi, ice cream and other kinds of knick-knacks.
This was a mildly sweet taro ice cream! We had to eat it at the store because there is a policy of ‘no eating while walking’ and also many of the stores/stalls on Nakamise will not accept other vendors rubbish. Since Japan does not have any bins anywhere, I was grossed out by the idea of holding my sticky ice cream paper in my pockets.
Finally, we ended the day with a visit to Ichiran.
📍Japan, 〒111-0032 Tokyo, Taito City, Asakusa, 1 Chome−1−16 HK浅草ビル B1F

This restaurant is located underground on the basement level so it felt very cramped. There were approx. 40 seatings and they don’t have the individual booths ichiran is famous for. The group tables meant we had to queue longer for a seat. It took us 45 minutes before we could finally order and eat, but for Ichiran, it was worth it.
