Amsterdam is known for its canals, artistic heritage and fun nightlife. It is also one of the cities you can consume cannabis without a care in the world. And anyone who has tried marijuana before would know a common sign of “being high” is having “munchies”, and what better way to satisfy those cravings than the street food of Amsterdam.
A lot of these were random vendors we stumbled upon. We wanted to compile the snacks we ate in one post since our travel diary was getting too long (LINK).

French Fries
One of the best indulgences of life is the mouthfeel of soft, thick potato fries dispersing on the tongue, covered in a creamy sauce. In the first photo, we got plain ketchup to freshen up the bite. In the second photo was a mix of mayo and cheddar… talk about a heavy carb snack.
Churros
The hardest part about getting churros was watching them swirl around in the oil as we waited for them to cook. But it was worth it. It was a nice, thick crunch inside our mouths, followed by hot doughy goodness that was covered in a delicious layer of milk chocolate 🤤.
Coffee Shop
There are plenty of cafes to hang around at in Amsterdam to get your caffeine fix but be careful: cafes are where they serve you coffees while you chat with your friends, and coffee shops are where you go to get your hands on weed 😉.
Foodhallen
There were heaps of different food stalls and vendors set up inside this old tram hall at Foodhallen (LINK).
Stroopwafel

Stroopwafels are an iconic symbol of food for the Dutch. They’re thin, slightly crispy, slightly soft, heavenly bites with thin layers of honey or chocolate in between. We bought a whole packet of 5 of them for €3 at the supermarket and they made for great souvenir gifts.
