I travelled with my family to Seoul for the last 2 days and they got to live out their k-drama fantasies. I focused on the main tourist hot spots. βThe weather was gloomy, wet and cold. It was about 5β and I could feel the cold seeped into my bones π₯Ά.
Our Adventure
After flying from Osaka, we checked in to our Airbnb near Jonggak station and had KBBQ for dinner (LINK).
The next morning I looked out the window to see the beautiful Jogyesa Temple so we headed out to explore it (LINK).
We explored the marketplace and had fried chicken at a random restaurant.
Then we went to N Seoul Tower for views and love (LINK). It was starting to get very cold and windy at the top of the mountain so once we were done, we went home for a warm shower.
For dinner, we had some local food around the Jonggak station. To be honest, it must not have been amazing or presentable because I have no photos (and memories) of it π
I do have a photo of tteokbokki and my family drunk because they thought they could handle their soju and keep up with me π€£.
Yesterday we walked towards Myeongdong (a major shopping district) for some exploration. My mum and aunt got sucked into a few beauty stores and ended up purchasing 100 face masks and 5 snail serums. Be very careful in Myeongdong. The beauty stores do a great job of luring potential customers in with “free” stuff.
For lunch, we stopped by a random restaurant for some delicious bibimbap and spicy kimchi tofu soup.
We went to Gyeongbokgung Palace and Bukchon Hanok Village afterwards, dressing up in traditional Korean dresses (LINK). We only stayed in our hanboks for an hour before it started pouring. After we returned our hanboks, we rushed home for some warmth and shelter. Originally I had planned to take my family to Gangnam in the afternoon but the weather definitely changed that idea.
Lucky for us, the rain cleared up just in time for dinner and we headed back out for Myeongdong night market (LINK). Mick was very jealous he was not with me eating that cheesy lobster too. We actually got really fat in 2017 thanks to that lobster π.
On our third day, we chilled and headed out to Incheon for a night stay (LINK). We wanted the cheapest flights possible and the only thing available was a 6AM flight and there was no way we would have made the Seoul-to-Incheon commute in time for this flight π.
Thanks for reading! Mick and I agreed that next time we travel to Seoul, we would focus on eating more and partying late. We’re looking forward to this trip. Until then, κ°μ¬ν©λλ€!
