The Castel Sant’Angelo is a towering cylindrical building in Rome, Italy, designed as a mausoleum for the Roman Emperor, Hadrian. It was later used by popes as a castle and fortress and is now a large museum open to tourists.

The view from the top was spectacular. It was such a pretty scene of Rome.
There were some armour and weapons on display. We were awed looking at the metal garments warriors had to wear back in the day… imagine how heavy and hot it would have been? Thank goodness we don’t fight like that anymore.
A bed fit for a king! There were a few bedrooms and ordinary rooms throughout the castle, probably used by kings and popes throughout the years.
There was a restaurant and bathroom at the top for replenishments. We knew it would have been a tourist trap so we opted to enjoy the scenery before heading back downstairs. You can see Vatican City in the distance.
