Cavalier is a popular cafe in North Sydney, with two locations near each other, hence the 1.0 and 2.0. Thanks to @imstillhungry’s Instagram post and description of their truffle mocha, I was drooling like a wide-eyed fangirl, eager to sip this aromatic coffee.
Luckily the days aligned in our calendars and I got the chance to eat here today, the same day as Library Cafe (LINK) and Simulation Senpai (LINK).

Ok, this truffle mocha was delicious but for $12, I actually hesitated to order it. Why does truffle have to upscale the price so high? 🥺
The mocha was smooth, with a nice layer of frothy milk. There was a good balance between caffeine and chocolate. The truffle had a very pungent aroma and my dining experience felt so luxurious because of it. I didn’t even sip the coffee until the end of the meal because the truffle smelled wonderful and elevated my sandwich.
The truffle taste was piquant, enhanced by the salt but after a while, it sunk into the coffee and became a soggy mess. I was only disappointed at the size of my coffee. It looked smaller than a small coffee at other cafes. I definitely would not pay that much for a coffee again.

I felt awkward sitting alone without my laptop so I ordered a cheeky jaffle for $14. This was a slice of free-range ham and Australian cheddar cheese, toasted in their jaffle iron. I ordered the smallest item because I normally intermittently fast til 2PM (it was 9:30AM when I visited) and there was not a lot of items (8) on their menu.
I also don’t eat a lot of carbs so the crust was too much for me to finish, but from a taste POV, it was moderately good, like 6.5 out of 10.
I enjoyed the crispy edges. The bread was slightly thick and hard to break apart with utensils so I had to pre-rip all the hot pieces with my fingers. I just wanna say, if you’re used to a clean diet, eating a juicy ham & cheese early in the morning does things to the gastrointestinal tract 🤣 #LessonLearned

I loved the decor in the cafe. It had a very rustic feel. In regards to the food, I probably would not go out of my way for it again. This cafe would be great for those living nearby but not worth the hour commute (we are from the South-West). I also found the prices a tad expensive but I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt because North Sydney rent is astronomical.
