Chefs Gallery

Chefs Gallery is an iconic Chinese restaurant in Sydney, famous for its delicious green noodles. We recently had lunch at the OG location in the CBD and oooofffttt, flashback. The CBD location has transcended in umami flavours 😍.

Story time: We used to eat at the Bankstown location every fortnight when they first opened back in 2016 but once ownership changed in 2018, we stopped going. Thank goodness that location closed down and the CBD spot is still popping πŸ˜….

Food

This is what I’m talking about. The Wok-fried noodle with prawns, mussels, calamari, julienned carrots and fresh shiitake mushrooms (ζ΅·ι²œη‚’ι’) is a flavourful explosion of umami and savouriness for $19.90. The green noodles are made fresh with spinach, giving it a beautiful green colour but not the bitter spinach taste. We love the abundance of seafood, a 50:50 ratio with the noodles.
These pan-fried prawn potstickers (ι²œθ™Ύι”…θ΄΄) for $16.90 were succulent pieces with fat prawn hidden inside its crispy and chewy exterior. This is not our favourite place for pan-fried prawn dumplings (we go to New Shanghai LINK for that craving satisfaction) but as an add on to this meal, this was the perfect accompaniment.
Peking duck is a Chinese delicacy, usually served with steamed pancakes, fresh cucumber and hoisin sauce. At Chefs Gallery, they wrapped that beauty in a flakey Chinese roti (εŒ—δΊ¬ηƒ€ιΈζ‰‹ζŠ“ι₯Ό) for $19.90. It was a mouthful of deliciousness 🀀.

The duck was moist and tender, contrasted with the cold cuts of cucumber and leek, covered by the flakiest roti ever. This is one of our go-to dishes
We ordered a steamed fish fillet (300g) (ζ¦„θ§’ε§œθ‘±θ’Έι±Ό) dressed in ginger, shallots, coriander, soy sauce and olives for $39.90. This was a well-executed fish with the right seasoning to complement the tender, creamy flesh. It tasted like a fancier version of the traditional dish, probably because of how delicate and beautiful the presentation was πŸ˜†.

Service

The service was typical of a Chinese restaurant, with an extra drop of politeness πŸ˜‚. Efficient, minimal conversations and well-executed.

Review

Another dish we would recommend is their mini fairy floss burgers πŸ” But we were being good this time around and did not order with our eyes hehe. If you love Chinese food with a clean (less oily) taste, check out Chefs Gallery.

As always, thanks for reading and happy eating! 😁
