This was one of the most confusing and most artsy hotel we’ve ever stayed. Citizen M is a growing Netherlands-based hotel chain known for its affordable luxury. We booked 2 nights for $307USD via Bookings.com (BOOK HERE π).

Location
For once, I did zero research to the area of the hotel (literally right next to Skid Row π) but luckily Citizen M felt like a safe haven in the midst of the chaos. The hotel was located in a convenient location being only a 5 minute walk from Grand Central Market and a 10 minute walk to the nearest metro station – but do not use the public trains!!!. You will get mugged and killed. The hotel was also two streets (10 minute walk) away from the thick of the homelessness (i.e. tents) so we ubered everywhere.
Room
Bed: The bed was architecturally designed to fit the space perfectly. It was a semi-hard mattress that was great for back sleepers, not so much for the side-sleeper. The bed sheets were bright white and clean. The pillows were soft but had a small bounce to them.
Cleanliness: It was very tidy and clean. We could not find a single stain or mark or hair.
Space: There was not much space to move around. We did have difficulty accessing our two large luggage but we managed it fine, even while high.
Noise: This was the most “noise cancelling” room we have ever seen. There was not a single peep or squeak, even when the cleaner was standing outside our door. It was a closed capsule.

Air-conditioning: Absolutely perfect. It ran silently but had AI function to regulate the climate too.
Technology: Fast Wifi and we could control a lot of things like the blinds and mood lights. Our favourite feature was the alarm. When it was time the blinds would open, the TV would turn on and the whole room would “ring” to wake us up – so effective π
βBathroom: It was a tiny bathroom with hazy mosaic glass and a neat air-suction mechanic. It definitely looked like a futuristic IKEA-inspired bathroom.

Extras: We were laughing non-stop (although this could have been from the blunt and edible we had LOL) about the “Iron Heaven” located on every second floor, thinking we had accidentally booked a sex hotel. When we finally explored the room, it was literally an ironing room and that was the coolest and weirdest thing to happen to us in a hotel π.
Review
If we ever step foot in Los Angeles (highly unlikely), we would book here again. The friendly staff in the lobby, the cleaners, the vibes and the price – everything was on point and so much fun! We would definitely look into the other Citizen M locations too.
