One of the newest joints in South West Sydney, Coffee and Crackles is an urban cafe offering fusion Vietnamese/Asian dishes and delicious coffee – made by our friend M. We’ve been here every 2 weeks for her smooth, well-blended cappuccinos 🤤.
Drink
The coffees are made with love by experienced hands of 10+ years. The little packaged biscoff biscuit with every purchase of coffee is a sweet touch that brightens my day.
C&C’s newest drink is the pandan iced coffee for $7.50. It tasted like a Vietnamese chè (dessert). It was mildly sweet with a moderate flavour of pandan infused throughout the drink. We recommend getting one shot of coffee because the recipe was designed for it. The double shot masked the pandan with its bitter touch.
Food
This was their wagyu beef bowl for $29. It had tender wagyu sliced, an onsen egg, kimchi and scallions over truffle rice. This was really delicious 🤤. Every ingredient was cooked perfectly however when eaten together, there was a tad lack of salt in the bite. The wagyu pieces tasted like grade A3. My camera was a little disappointed the egg was not oozier. The price was a little expensive for lunch in the area but a lot of these ingredients are premium so it seemed fair enough.
This was their signature crackling pork roll for $19. It was a 6-hour pork roast crackling with Asian slaw and sweet soy mayo on a milk bun served with fries and sriracha mayo. This was a big improvement from their first version (in November 2020). The bun was complete with a bottom so nothing fell out as we bit into it. The crackling pork was very crispy and was not over dripping in oils. The slaw was refreshing with a bit of sugar. The milk bun was soft and sweet, like eating a pillow. It was not roasted or baked but served cool in a resting state.
I really enjoyed the chicken salt seasoning on the chips. I’m an absolute sucker for fries 😏. And the sriracha sauce was a delicious umami spice that balanced out the sweetness of the bread.

Service
The vibe was very chill with friendly, attentive staff and relaxing music. It would be a great place to work-from-home from if we had a laptop. Also, M’s smile is infectious 😆.
Review
We’re stilled tossed about the food menu. Everything was great and enjoyable but when we think about the area to price value, it’s a little hard to justify spending that amount regularly. The prices are comparable to other cafes in Sydney so it’s not bad, just that the alternative of going to Frangos or Cabramatta for a $10 feed screams in the back of our minds a lot.
But the coffee is the bomb 😍. We will always stop by for a coffee here on weekdays if we happen to be doing errands.
If you’re considering trying Coffee & Crackles out, definitely save it for a brunch outing with a group of friends so you can try everything on the menu.
