The Colosseum, aka the Flavian Amphitheatre, is located in Rome, Italy and is one of the most famous iconic structures in the world. It was built in 72 AD and held up to 80,000 spectators.
Today we used our Roma Pass to enter the dome and became typical tourists – “I’m a gladiator!” 😎

As you can see, the view was the same from all angles 🤣
There were 3 levels where we could look down from but a lot of areas were closed off due to debris and decay. Those people standing on the stage in the middle were part of private tours and upon research, we found out tickets were €300 😳 no thank you.

There was a lot of information and history on the ground floor if we could get past the tour groups. It was very crowded viewing these displays because there were so many tour groups crammed up in the narrow space. We skipped a lot of it because it was too frustrating in the heat.
We could see the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill from the top. After finishing our visit at the Colosseum and moving on to see the forum (LINK), we stopped at the spot on the right there to take these couple photos with the Colosseum.
The weather started to turn grey during our photoshoot so we left shortly after 😅. To end the post, here are some night shots of the Colosseum. We almost got robbed taking these but that’s a story for our travel diary (LINK).
