Dresden, Germany 2019

Dresden is the capital of Saxony, Germany. It is known as the Jewel Box, recognised by its celebrated art museums and baroque architecture. I had the pleasure of stopping by this beautiful city on my tour today. The weather was quite random so even though I was only in the city for 4 hours, it looks like I was there over a period of days πŸ˜‚.

Our Adventure

The tour guide took the group to Zwinger Palace (LINK) where most of it was under construction.
Then we went to Dresden Castle. We got to look around inside but only for 15 minutes.
The buildings were so pretty 😍 I wished the weather was better because these pastel coloured buildings would have looked great under bright sunlight.
Afterwards, the tour guide dropped the group off at Dresden Cathedral (Katholische Hofkirche) to explore for 2 hours.
All these photos were posted in chronological order. I’m telling you, the sun kept playing tricks with me. One moment it was a beautiful day, the next, I was running for shelter 🀣.
At this point, I started wandering towards the Bruhlschen Garden. I set up my camera for some timed pictures and then it started to rain.
I ran towards the bridge and ducked into Kutscherschanke – Uriges Wirtshaus for a delicious meal. I ordered the meatloaf with herb crust, roasted pumpkin and puree. The mash was creamy af! πŸ˜‹ It was so satisfying eating this after a cold and wet day outside.
Afterwards, the rain had stopped and I began making my way towards the meeting point. I came across the famous Furstenzug (mural painted in 1876).
I found a cool spot for the lonely traveller with a tripod πŸ˜‚
Finally, time was up and I had to meet my tour group for Prague (LINK).

Overall, I loved Dresden 😍!! . It was a very peaceful and beautiful city. The architecture and statues were such timeless artworks and brought out my love for Baroque music (something I haven’t thought about since I was 17 during music school πŸ˜‚). I can’t wait to do a Germany trip and take Mick here.

Thanks for reading! Auf Wiedersehen
