We do not recommend booking hotels through a third party like agoda. Yes, it’s cheaper but there’s a high chance for errors like how we were almost stranded in Honolulu, Wakiki despite our confirmed reservation at Hilton Garden Inn 😤. Agoda was lucky that the staff of Hilton were so fabulous and helpful in checking us in. Now back to our subpar hotel review of this place:
Location
The location was great because Hilton Garden Inn is next to the main steet, Kalakaua, and a 10 minute walk from Wakiki beach. There’s also plenty of ABC stores (conveniences) and restaurants nearby. The shopping outlets were a 15-30 minute drive away.
Room
Bed: The bed was a little too soft and did not feel clean enough. It could have been the sand in the air that made us feel icky.
Cleanliness: It was average. The room definitely felt more like a motel rather than a hotel.
Space: The space was great for our last minute packing and stress weighing.
Noise: Not soundproof. We could hear people in the hallways, people next door, people on their balconies….

Air-conditioning: There was a strong smell when in use for too long, like a dusty, sandy kind of funk.
Technology: Wifi was decent. TV works.

Bathroom: Water was good but the tap has limited options. The layout is awkward.
Review
As much as we love Hilton hotels, this is one we will not stay again.
