Port of Kobe is located in the south of the city, approx. 20 mins via public transport or a 35 mins walk from Shin-Kobe station (the main station of the shinkansen – bullet trains). It’s well known for the Port Tower (the red building in the above picture), dancing fish and the earthquake memorial.
Here are some snapshots from today so as to not overwhelm my travel diary (LINK) 😄.

This is the dancing fish, created by Frank O Gehry, located at the entrance to Meriken Park. It is probably one of the coolest and most unique things I’ve seen in Japan. It’s made from chain-link mesh covered with copper sheets and stands at 22 metres tall.

Along the Meriken wharf of Pork Kobe, 60 metres of the quay is preserved to show the devastation of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake of 1995. It’s a free activity, open to the public. As you walk along and read all the information and see the real-life damage, with the soft waterside wind caressing your hair, it really makes you ponder on what could have been and the heartache of those affected.

It was so good that the weather was clear. I had a great time sitting on a bench, enjoying the view ☕. I almost fell asleep on the grass as I was editing my photos hehe.
