We booked Quanjude with one mission in mind: to maximise on Peking duck. Well, we accomplished it because we became the duck as we rolled out of the restaurant tonight 🤣.
Our friend recommended Quanjude as one of the more premium places with great value for Peking duck. Surprisingly, there is a Sydney location too but we have yet to try – working on a review soon.

The Quanjude Peking duck full set was such a good value for $88. It arrived with:
- crackling duck skin scallions
- cucumbers, sweet sauce, and 16 pancakes
- duck soup
If I could YOLO and ignore my cholesterol levels, I’d stuff myself with this delectable fatty piece of duck skin forever. Just imagine duck flavour intensified with grease 🤤🤤🤤
Each piece of our Peking duck was succulent and juicy, ripped with fat and grease. It was a little less intense than the duck skin, but only by a smidge. As cruel as the method of Peking duck is, hate to admit the results are so delicious 🤤😩.
The pancakes were buttery soft, wrapped around the duck as perfect accents. Balanced by the refreshing cucumber and seasoned hoisin sauce, each bite was heaven. We were so glad to have maximised our experience this time around.

Please excuse Mick’s laziness. “Efficient”, he calls it 🤣.
In addition, we were intrigued by the black truffle fried rice for $38. It had a mix of egg, prawn cutlets, scallops and infused black truffle. The fish sauce and prawns were a delicious and strong flavour, which was great but also bad because it masked the subtle truffle flavours. No point paying a lot of money for just fried rice, ya know? 🙃
We also ordered the $28 stir fried mushrooms with vegetables for ~ health ~ and balance. It was a simple execution of vegetables in oyster sauce, without being too watered down. Not my thing but everyone else enjoyed it 🍄👀.
Service
The service was efficient and proper, expected of a fancier Chinese restaurant. We loved the gold and red decor, with the sunshine yellow cutlery. It was a nice change from the typical red and white. They even had a golden throne with traditional clothing so people could take photos.
Review
We had a great dining experience and left filled with duck. For food, service and value, we recommend the Melbourne location of Quanjude 👌🏻.
