It was really nice being outside, exploring the touristy spots of Melbourne today. COVID has really made us appreciate the little things a lot 😂 and going about, eating everything in sight was such a pleasure. It was a little eerie seeing how quiet and empty the market was at noon, but we concluded it might have something to do with the upcoming holiday.

After a bit of exploring, we found our way to the most important spot in the market: the food court. We had a bunch of items for lunch so I’ve categorised everything based on the store.
Agathe Patisserie
We have heard a lot about Agathe Patisserie, despite the overshadowed popularity of their competitor, Lune Croissanterie (LINK). Our friends have spoken highly of this bakery so we knew it must be an underrated spot that needed our love. And boy, our friends were right. These pastries were perfectly baked with a crispy outer layer and soft, airy fillings 😍. Everything was well made and delicious. Highly recommend!
Pieno Di Grazia
We were originally attracted to Pieno Di Grazia by their colourful tropical decor and friendly staff. And then we smelled the aroma and we knew we had to order a few things.
We have no regrets because this classic beef lasagne was to die for 🤤!!! The cheese layer oozed out into every corner of the pasta. Combined with the well-seasoned and tender meat, this was a perfect mess of deliciousness. I’ve had my fair share of good lasagnas in my days and I’d have to rate this one second on my list (No #1 remains in Rome LINK).

We also ordered the meatballs special. This was amazing too. The meatballs were thick and flavourful, with the centre bursting with beef juices as we bit into it. The sauce was more tomato-based than ragu style and this really helped balance the meat.
Small Town Pie Co.
Unfortunately, I don’t remember the exact pies we ordered, only that there was a beef one and a lamb one. Both were very good, with soft and delectable fillings, a thin flakey pastry lid and a moderately thick pastry bottom.
SOUTH MELBOURNE SEAFOODS OYSTER BAR
Of course, it would not be a trip to the markets without some fresh oysters and grilled seafood. Everything was so fresh, plump and flavourful 🤤.
La Central
We stopped by this Spanish deli and ordered a few kinds of cheese and ham. We were so surprised to see them serving Jamon Iberico, a cured ham delicacy, and one we had been craving since our trip to Barcelona. So good with crackers 😋 Everything offered at La Central was reasonably price and of the highest quality.
Koy
We were sucked into Koy by their 3 for $10 gozleme special. All the flavours were great but after a few months of dieting, the oils and carbs became too much for our stomachs. If we were ever after a greasy snack again, we would definitely come back for another bite of Koy’s Turkish dishes.
