St. Peter’s Basilica is a Renaissance-style church located in Vatican City. It was built in 1506. For those non-Christian, Saint Peter was the first bishop of Rome and one of Jesus’ apostle. Here are some snapshots from today, using our Roma Pass.
Inside the church, there is an elevator option for €10 that allows visitors to skip 300 steps and walk only 250 steps to the top of the church. But of course, I messed up and forced Mick to walk the whole way HAHAHA. We climbed 551 steps in total and our thighs were on fiyahhhhh!! 🔥 Gotta walk off all the food, right?
Tip: Pack a water bottle and a fan. The last 100 steps are very claustrophobic.

We could see the church below through the rails. We were very impressed by the roof of the dome. Like how did they build and paint the ceiling 500 years ago? These are the questions that keep me up at night 😂.
It was very windy at the top. The view was spectacular and it was so pretty to see Rome from the highest vantage point. We wouldn’t mind climbing these stairs to see this view again ✌🏻
