Three Blue Ducks

Three Blue Ducks is a restaurant committed to providing good, ethical food for a more sustainable approach to living. Their story started in 2010 with three dudes (LaBrooy, Sorrell and Reid-Boquist) running the show in Bronte, with “one doing food, one doing coffee and one on the floor”. They were very successful, and eventually brought Andy Allen (Masterchef) on to the team.

We did not know all of this when we visited the Rosebery location last month with A & N. But wow, reading their story now as I edit these photos… amazing 😆

To be honest, I only took one photo of everything and we were a little tipsy that night so all I can say was there was a lot of variety in food, the meals were delicious and we had a great time.

This is less of a food review and more of a food summary for my memory purposes 🤣.

main course

I think this was the crumbed pork terrine, pickled onion puree, gribiche, parsley, preserved lemon for $22. The bone marrow was savoury, sweetened by the pickled onion. It was not that overwhelming, served with their in-house baked sourdough.
This was the marinated beetroots, macadamia cheese, Davidson’s plum, beetroot crumb for $21. Hmm, I remember thinking this dish was a little tart for my liking but Mick and our friends loved it.
This was the peri peri chicken, roasted pumpkin, chermoula for $32. We loved the flavouring on the roasted chicken. The mild spice and paprika added more depth to the meat.
This may be the charcoal grilled grass-fed rump cap, portobello mushrooms, eschallots, horseradish, bagna cauda for $39. I’m not a fan of mushrooms so I think I avoided this dish 😂 but again, the others loved it.
This was wood roasted market fish, creamed corn, fermented chilli, spring onion, jalapeno & herb salad for $37. The fish was fresh and soft, breaking apart easily. There was a nice kick to it and the corn sauce was really creamy.
For a vegan option, we got roasted sweet potato, cauliflower and black garlic cream, sorghum, pickled grapes, hazelnuts, herbs for $24. I really enjoyed this dish because I love the sweet aroma of sweet potato. Highly recommend this option.

service

Service was great! The night was blurry so I can’t recall any specific moments 😅.

review

The restaurant was set in a warehouse with indoor greenery and a calming ambience. It was very nice.

Thanks for reading the most basic review ever written 🤣. We’ll try to go back or to visit the Byron Bay or Bronte location and do a proper review.

Until then, bye 🤗.
