Van Gogh Alive 2020

Van Gogh Alive 2020 is a large-scale, multi-sensory experience brought to Sydney in late September of this year. It will be running until the end of the year. It’s being held at the Royal Hall of Industries. Tickets are $40 per person.

We visited on 2nd October with our friends A & J. There were social distancing rules in place at the time of the visit, thanks to Covid.

In all honesty, the Sydney event was mediocre compared to the rest of the world. It looked better in Emily in Paris (Netflix) 😂.

Inside there were 10 artworks on display and then visitors were directed to a large hall with projections and music, tingling the sight and hearing senses. The projections played on all four walls and two on the floor in a loop of 30 mins.

That was it.

$40 for 30 mins of colour and sounds.

We had a feeling it would have been meh so we had a few drinks to maximise our experience. We looked like the only ones who were having the best time 🤣

There was a cafe with these cute glasshouses that were closed off to the public.

We appreciated the purpose of the event. It arrived post lockdown and was a great way to encourage people to go outside. However, unless you’re drunk or really, really love art, then it was mediocre and a waste of money.
